I am one of the few—it seems at times—native sons of California. Welcome to California!
I moved to the Bay Area in 1982 for a job. When I graduated from college in 1980, the Bay Area was pretty much last on my list of areas to live in. Today it continues to occupy one of the top spots for areas to live in. I came to the Lord through a Navigator using a CRU tract in 1978. I came to Mercy Hill as I extended my concentric circles of churches that I would consider for church shopping. I discovered meaty sermons and while distance-wise it was greater than some, time-wise, being next to the freeway was closer than I thought it would be. I lead a home group, help with setting-up and tearing down for Sunday services, and help out where I see a need that I have time and some ability to meet. I work as a mechanical engineer and like to build and repair stuff when I find some spare time. I recently was gifted a coffee mug that says: "I fix stuff". I also like to study the Bible and look for patterns in the texts.

If you had to pick a “life verse,” what would it be and why?
2 Tim. 2:15: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."
It aligns with a passion I have to understand God's words that have been given to us to enjoy and sustain us.

Name one person who's had a significant influence on you and tell us why.
There was a lead engineer that I did some work for as a college student. After I had sent one piece of work to him, he called me over and quietly asked if that was the best that I could do? I have appreciated different people in my life who have encouraged me to do my best. My hope is I continue to ask this question of myself and act on my answers.
What's one fun fact you could share with us about yourself?
I lived and worked in Bremerton, Washington for about two years after graduating from college.
If you had to pick your favorite spot in the Bay Area, what would it be and why?
Stanford Campus. While I never attended Stanford I appreciate the history on longevity this place, where everything seems so transitory.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I often wanted to design cars. As I neared college graduation, I suddenly realized there were not very many opportunities to do that on the west coast and so I often chose to work on boats instead.
Take Your Next Step . . .
Wherever you're at in your journey with Jesus, it would be our joy to help you take the next step!
