I was born in Brooklyn, NY. My family moved to California when I was about two years old. I went to elementary school in San Diego, CA. I went to middle school in Rome, Italy, where I learned to play the violin. I went to high school in La Crescenta, CA.
I became a Christian while in high school, through the out reach ministry of the YMCA. I went to college at the University of California, Los Angeles, where I studied Biology and Electrical Engineering.
After graduating college I move to Silicon Valley to work for National Semiconductor (now part of Texas Instruments). While working I earned Masters Degrees in International Marketing and Engineering Management at Santa Clara University and a Masters in Market Leadership from the Harvard Business School. I spent almost 40 years working in technology companies including HP, Microsoft and Google. In addition, I worked for four startups, one of which went public. I currently teach in the post-graduate, Marketing Management Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz Extension in Santa Clara.
I am married and have three grown sons, three daughters-in-law and two granddaughters.
I have traveled globally for missions, business, and pleasure. I am fluent in English, and conversant in Spanish, French, and Italian. I started teaching Bible Studies in college as part of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and I have been doing so ever since.
My wife and I are deacons at Mercy Hill Church and we lead the Global Outreach Team (GO! Team). We are involved in Perspectives on the World Christian Movement and volunteer staff at MissionNext, a Ministry of MissionWorks.
We currently have two indoor cats and feed several of the neighborhood cats. We frequently have visitors like skunks, racoons, and opossums. We have several fruit trees and grow a vegetable garden most summers.

If you had to pick a “life verse,” what would it be and why?
Romans 8:28: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." In this verse we are called to love God and trust Him in all things.
Name one person who's had a significant influence on you and tell us why.
Frank Arnold, he introduced me to Jesus when I was searching for direction. He was the first to teach me the Bible and the reveal the truths that it holds.
What's one fun fact you could share with us about yourself?
I love photography and classical baroque music, particularly, Bach Fugues.
If you had to pick your favorite spot in the Bay Area, what would it be and why?
Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Felton, CA. It is easily accessible and going there reminds me that in the scope of eternity we are but a speck.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I had aspired to be a doctor, and I actually got into medical school after college, but was dissuaded from attending due to chronic health issues. The laugh is that my eldest son is a cardiologist without any encouragement from me to pursue medicine and he is married to a pediatrician.
Take Your Next Step . . .
Wherever you're at in your journey with Jesus, it would be our joy to help you take the next step!
